Native only to Madagascar, sunset moths, chrysiridia rhipheus, in their adult forms, are colorful day flying moths. The legend in Malagasy culture is that sunset moths are their reincarnated ancestors, and because of this, in Malagasy they are called either Adriandolo or Loloandriana meaning "noble spirit".
According to Baumann Brunke, one of the main teachings of the moth is to assist in the transition between worlds. As aforementioned, many cultures viewed moths as emissaries from the Spirit realm. To that end, they can also relate to endings within our lives, which bring with them, new beginnings.
